Gwagwalada (FCT) – Alhaji Zakari Angulu-Dobi, representing Abuja South in the House of Representatives, on Thursday pledged to assist young talented footballers to join bigger teams in the Federal Capital Territory.
Angulu-Dobi made this known to newsmen at the opening ceremony of the Zakari Angulu Football Competition in Gwagwalada.
He said that he would discuss with the FCT Football Association to ensure that the dreams of the young talented footballers come to reality.
“I will find time to discuss with the FCT Football Association
“We need to work with them to see how we can get bigger clubs for them, so that the younger ones coming up will not see football as a leisure thing, but something that will benefit them in future,’’ he said.
In his remark, the Gwagwalada Area Council Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Adamu-Danze, said one of the attributes of democratic governance was human capital and infrastructure development, especially youth development.
Adamu-Danze said that the council would strive to create a youth empowerment programme, with a view to encouraging them to become self-employed and self-reliant. (NAN)
