LG administrator asks parents to bring up children properly

Lafia  – Parents have been advised to inculcate good moral and spiritual upbringing in their children so that they can become useful citizens.
Hajiya Saadatu Yahaya, Sole Administrator, Obi Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, gave the advice in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Lafia on Tuesday.
She said that lack of caring and discipline had led to a lot of insecurity and criminal activities among youths.
Yahaya called on children to be obedient to their parents, elders and teachers as well as be law abiding in order to make the society a better place to live in.
She felicitated with children ahead of the forthcoming Children’s Day Celebration to on May 27.
She said the APC-led administration in the state was committed to the development of children as future leaders.
According to her, proper upbringing of children by parents would see them growing to become better and disciplined leaders of tomorrow.
The sole administrator also appealed to parents and guardians to give high premium to girl-child education, adding that the era of sending girls on street hawking was over.
She held that the education of the girl-child should be paramount and non-negotiable in the change agenda of the government and parents if the country was to develop.
She decried cultural and religious sentiment which hinders girl-child education, urging parents to shun such in the interest of the future of their wards.
She charged the three tiers of government to create a new strategy and take realistic step towards ensuring that all girl children were given quality education for the country to move forward. (NAN)
