DANDUME – Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammad, the Transition Council Chairman, Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, has cautioned grassroots politicians against instigating political violence.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dandume on Friday Abdulkadir warned people on the dangers of political violence.
The chairman said that such development always subjected the people to hardship as well as hindered development.
He also advised political stakeholders in the rural areas to understand the focus and activities of political parties before soliciting peoples’ support on their behalf.
Muhammad described internal party crises and political differences as healthy to the development of democracy and urged politicians not to recognise opposition parties as treats.
He further cautioned politicians against unguarded utterances detrimental to national development adding that they should see democracy as a system of providing qualitative governance to uplift peoples’ lives.
The chairman stressed the need for political party stakeholders and leaders to always speak with maturity on all issues and avoid selfish interest.
He called on political parties to formulate good manifestoes that would lead to execution of policies that would facilitate maximum performance and for the benefit of the people.
Muhammad further advised people especially those living in the rural areas not entertain any candidates with bogus promises or capitalised on money to woo people’s votes but always support candidates that possessed good records of achievements. (NAN)
