LG distributes pumping machines to farmers in Kebbi

AUGIE (Kebbi) – The Augie Local Government Area,  Kebbi, on Monday said it had spent N36 million on the purchase of 1,200 water pumping machines for dry season farmers in the area.

The chairman of the council, Alhaji Garba Birnin-Tudu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Augie.

He said beneficiaries were expected to pay N15,000, representing 50 per cent of the cost of each marchine.

The chairman said the agricultural department of the council had been mandated to ensure equitable distribution of the machines. [eap_ad_2]

Birnin-Tudu said the council would also provide insecticides, pesticides and fertiliser at subsidised price to the farmers.

He urged farmers to expand the scope of dry season farming to boost production and ensure food security in the state.

Birnin-Tudu also restated the determination of the council toward promoting agriculture to reduce unemployment and idleness. (NAN) [eap_ad_3]
