ZAMFARA (Sundiata Post) – The Zamfara state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has urged its members who are currently serving in government and have an interest in the forthcoming local government elections slated for November 16, 2024, to resign.
This was contained in a statement issued by the state publicity secretary of the party, Haliru Andi, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.
The statement noted that the directives were in line with the provisions of the constitution, saying, In “line with provisions, any member intending to contest in the forthcoming elections must resign.
The full statement: Sequel to the announcement by the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZAIEC) regarding the upcoming local government elections scheduled for November 16th, we wish to remind all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are currently serving in civil or public service positions of the necessity to comply with constitutional provisions.
“In line with electoral guidelines, any member intending to contest in the forthcoming elections must resign their appointment no later than today at 12pm.
“This step is essential to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process and to uphold the integrity of our party.
“We encourage all interested candidates to prepare for this important civic duty, and we stand ready to support them in their endeavours.
