procurement of hand pumps repair kits.
Mattafari made this disclosure while briefing newsmen at the end of the Local Government Executive Council meeting in Kirikasamma.
He said that the amount would be used to repair some 116 broken hand pumps in the 11 wards of the area.
“We expended more than N5 million on hand pumps repair items.
“The council will repair obsolete hand pumps to enhance access to safe drinking water in rural communities,” he said.
Mattafari said that the council would also distribute 1, 500 rubber carpets to various mosques in the area.
He explained that the council has initiated viable projects aimed at improving the social and economic well being of the people.
The chairman urged the people to protect from vandals water and other facilities provided for their communities by the government. (NAN)
