Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has been applauded for the policy of encouraging the participation of local governments in the state to mount exhibitions for their products at the just concluded Enugu State International Trade Fair.
The Executive Chairman of Isi Uzo Local Government Area, Honourable Obiora Obeagu while speaking on the significant of the initiative, said it offered them the opportunity to showcase both agricultural and processed products from small and medium scale enterprises, (SMEs).
He stressed that apart from pushing the local governments to be more in-ward looking, it created room for healthy competition and resourcefulness among the local governments across the state.
The local government’s boss equally disclosed that the local governments’ participation in this year’s Enugu State International Trade Fair provided an apple opportunity for the rural dwellers to prove that the Federal Government’s investments in agriculture were yielding positive results.
Honourable Obeagu who scored his local government high in terms of the products exhibited, advised other states to embrace Governor Ugwuanyi’s idea of encouraging local governments to participate in trade fairs as a way of exposing their products to the outside world.
The Isi Uzo Local Government Chairman assured that his local government’s participation in future fairs would be more rewarding than this year’s exercise, stressing that the experience gathered would enhance the preparation for the future events.
“We are going home to restrategise on how to improve on what we have done this year so that more people would be encouraged to exhibit their products in future.”
Honourable Obeagu however added that his greatest joy was the enthusiasm and excitements shown by the participants from the rural communities.
