Beidha, (Libya) – Libya’s interim government has described as `unacceptable’ the suggestion that camps be built in Libya to accommodate illegal migrants caught while trying to cross the Mediterranean to Europe.
The suggestions were made by Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lubomir Zaoralek, on Monday in Beidha, Libya.
According to the Zaoralek, Libya is most ideal to host the camps because most of those crossing the Mediterranean to Europe take off from there
“The Libyan interim government will accept neither an interference in Libya’s internal affairs nor a breach of its sovereignty,’’’ government spokesman, Hatem al-Areibi said.
al-Areibi said the Libyan government was working on proposals on illegal immigration to be submitted to EU soon.
He urged the EU `’to strike at the root of the problem of illegal immigration and the motives for those seeking asylum and immigration before planning to relocate them to sovereign countries’.
