The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) affirmed its commitment to supporting local oil and gas service companies during a recent visit to industry stakeholders in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Led by Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the NCDMB delegation, accompanied by officials from Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC), assessed facilities and capabilities of service companies like Brightwaters Energy Limited, Solewant Nigeria Limited, and Pipe Coaters Nigeria.
Engr. Ogbe stressed the importance of patronizing local companies in line with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act, highlighting the need to create employment opportunities and boost the economy. Brightwaters Energy Limited’s CEO, Mr. Scott Gregory, expressed readiness to contribute value to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, despite previous downtime, pledging to revive operations within 60 days of securing new contracts.
Dr. Ernest Nwapa, Chairman of Tenaris Nigeria, applauded NCDMB’s efforts in promoting local content and maximizing existing capacities for project execution. At PCNL’s facilities, the delegation observed various equipment and pledged support for client expectations and supervision.
Solewant Group showcased new investments, such as 5-megawatt generators, to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Accompanying Engr. Ogbe were key NCDMB officials, including Engr. Abayomi Bamidele and Mr. Lanre Olawuyi from SPDC. The visit underscores the collaborative efforts to bolster Nigeria’s oil and gas industry through local participation and capacity utilization.
