Lagos – Online mall Jumia says it is partnering with Procter and Gamble, a consumer goods producer, to make hygiene products accessible to all Nigerians during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Mr Massimiliano Spalazzi, Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Nigeria, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
Spalazzi said that with the partnership, customers on Jumia platform would be able to make orders on a range of Procter and Gamble products.
He said that both companies were committed to seeking ways to soften the unpleasant effects of the movement restriction imposed by the government to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.
“We are proud to partner with Procter and Gamble as part of our commitment to provide customers access to essential hygiene and sanitary products during this challenging time.
This partnership is in line with our “Stay Safe” campaign. We strive to continue operating so that customers continue to stay at home, use e-commerce to shop, and stay safe during the lockdown.” he said.
The Managing Director of Procter and Gamble in Nigeria, Mr Adil Farhat, said they were proud to join Jumia in the initiative to supply essential products to consumers in Nigeria.
He noted that a range of their products which included safeguard soap, Oral B, Ariel, Always, Pampers and Gillette, would now be available for safe delivery across the entire country.
“Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Jumia has been an important online channel for Nigerians to access the essentials needed for daily upkeep.
“Jumia also implemented contactless delivery for prepaid packages that enable consumers to make prepaid payments for products online and get them delivered without a direct body contact or cash exchange with the delivery agent, Farhat said.
