LP declares Kida gubernatorial candidate for Gombe State

GOMBE – The Labour Party (LP) on Tuesday declared Mr. Hassan Kida as its gubernatorial candidate for the 2015 polls in Gombe State.
The state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Saleh Lawan, also declared candidates for the national and state assemblies position on the platform of the party.
He said that the candidates had been screened and allowed to contest for the various positions under consensus arrangement.
He said that the arrangement was based on understanding to ensure the development of the party and its success in the 2015 general elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that for the positions of senators, Alhaji Ali Sani was elected for Gombe Central; Hajiya Fatima Abubakar for Gombe North, and Mr. Peter Jatau for Gombe South senatorial districts.
For positions of House of Representatives, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa was elected as candidate for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye constituency; Mr. Egla Abdu for Dukku Nafada Constituency; Alhaji Ismaila Mohammed for Akko Constituency and Mohammed Sama for Yamaltu/Deba constituency.
Other are Mrs Fibi Ishaya for Billiri/Balanga Constituency and Mr. Daniel Musa for Kaltungo/Shomgom Federal Constituency.
Also elected were candidates for the 24 constituencies of the state assembly.
In his remarks, the representative of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Malam Muktari Gidado who monitored the exercise, commended the party and assured that the commission would conduct a free, fair and credible election.
He said there was no difference among all political parties as the commission would treat them equally.
Gidado advised the candidates to sensitise their supporters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) before the period of election to allow them exercise their rights.
He called on them to select credible and educated agents who would represent them at the polling units for good result.
The gubernatorial aspirant, who spoke on behalf of the candidates, thanked the party and the delegates for finding them worthy to contest for their positions.
He appealed to the party members and the general public to support LP towards successes during the 2015 general elections.
Kida assured the people of the state that if voted into power, he would develop the state, especially in education and agriculture (NAN)
