Lupita Nyong’o named ‘Woman of the year’ 2014 by Glamour magazine

British fashion magazine, Glamour has named Lupita Nyong’o  ‘Woman of the Year’ for 2014.

The magazine made the announcement that the ’12 Years a Slave’ star is the cover star for the year via its Instagram page on November 3, 2014, accompanying it with a photo of the Kenya-born Hollywood actress who describes herself as Mexican-Kenya.

The excited award winning actress also took to her Instagram page to expressed her gratitude to the celebrity magazine for honouring her as such, providing a link to her followers to see the entire interview with the magazine.

Having worked as a production assistant on several Hollywood films, Nyong’o made her acting debut with the short film, East River in 2008 and subsequently starred in Kenyan television series Shuga in 2009.

Following the completion of her master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama, she got her first feature film role in the Steve McQueen-directed historical drama. Her role as Patsey, a slave in the film has become widely acclaimed, earning her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, among numerous other awards and nominations.

Earlier this year, the Oscar winner was named The Most Beautiful Woman’ by People magazine.
