ABUJA – The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, has called on youths to shun violence and not allow themselves to be used as agents of blood shedding during 2015 general elections.
Maku gave the advice when he received a youth group from Nassarawa State known as “Like Minds” in his office in Abuja on Thursday.
He described as unfortunate the pockets of communal clashes which the state had witnessed in recent years that resulted in loss of lives and property. [eap_ad_1] Maku said that the government of President Goodluck Jonathan had contributed greatly to the advancement of all Nigerian states, including Nassarawa.
“The Jonathan’s administration has established 125 Almajiri schools, 17 rice mills, 13 federal universities, and has improved the agricultural sector.
“The president is doing a lot to ensure that Nigerian youths are gainfully employed; so, you should not allow yourselves to be used for political violence,” he said.
Earlier, the Secretary-General of the group and leader of the delegation, Mr Juddah Attah, said that as youths, they were ready to work with politicians who were agents of peace and change in the state.
Attah said that the group would ensure that it contributed to a very peaceful election in 2015 in Nassarawa State. (NAN)
