Akure – A 20 year-old man, Tope Adegbehingbe, was on Friday remanded in custody at the Olokuta Prisons by an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court over the alleged killing of an 86-year-old woman, Janet Oyeniyi.
The Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered the remand of the accused, pending the receipt of legal advice from the Office of the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The accused who lives at Ajebambo Camp via Oniparaga, Araromi-Obu in the Akure-South Local Government, is facing a one-count charge of murder.
The prosecutor, ASP Isah Atanegbe, told the court that the accused macheted Mrs Oyeniyi to death with a cutlass by inflicting injuries all over her body.
According to the prosecutor, the action of the accused resulted to the sudden death of the victim.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the duo lived at the same camp.

Atanegbe alleged that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 23, 2015 at about 10:00a.m., at Ajebambo Camp via Oniparaga, Araromi-Obu in the Akure-South Local Government.
He said that the offence is contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The plea of the accused, who was represented by a counsel, was not taken by the court.
The case was adjourned to Dec. 9, 2015 for legal advice. (NAN)
