OKITIPUPA – A 21-year-old man, Ajinde Ehinnehifo, was on Monday arraigned in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for alleged stealing and burglary.
The accused, of no fixed address and occupation, was arraigned on a three-count charge of felony, burglary and stealing.
Also arraigned was one Adeolu Adebayo who was charged with unlawfully receiving stolen goods.
The Prosecutor, Insp Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused on Aug. 1 at about 2.00 a.m. at No. 2, Apata St., Okitipupa, conspired with another person now at large to commit the offences.
He said that the accused burgled the house of one Rev. Adedeke Adewole to steal items such as laptop computer, Ipad, camera and cell phones phones valued at N119,000. [eap_ad_1] Ehinnehifo was also accused of stealing a cash sum of N32,000.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 516, 411(2) and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37,Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Orogbemi also said Adebayo, on Aug. 3 unlawfully received the stolen computer valued at N50,000 from Ehinnehifo.
He said that the offence was contrary to Section 427 of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The Magistrate, Mr Funsho Akintoye, granted the accused bail in the sum N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present evidence of two years tax payment.
The case was adjourned till Sept. 16 for further hearing. (NAN)
