LAGOS – A 24-year-old man, Oluwaseun Akinboyewa, who allegedly stole his employer’s N400,000, was on Wednesday charged before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Akinboyewa, who resides at No. 42, Arowosere St., Iwaya, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Peter Nwangwu told the court that the accused had on March 18 absconded with N400, 000 belonging to his employer — First May Nig. Ltd.
Nwangwu said the accused was given the responsibility of paying into the bank the company’s revenue for March 18.
“Akinboyewa pretended that he was taking the company’s revenue for March 18 to the bank on behalf of his employer.
“He, however, failed to pay in the money and could account for the missing money,” he said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to May 9 for trial. (NAN)
