Abuja,- A Kado Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced a 24-year-old man, Lansana Akpani, to two months’ imprisonment for attempted theft.
The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, convicted and sentenced Akpani to jail after he had pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of attempted stealing and beg the court for leniency.
Sadiq, however, gave the convict an option to pay N10, 000 fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Simon Ibrahim, had told the court that the accused, who resides at Abacha Barracks, Abuja, allegedly committed the offence on April 23.

Ibrahim said that one Cpl. Enoch Tukura , attached to Zenith Bank, Jabi branch, Abuja, arrested the accused as he attempted to pick the pocket of one Mr Chinedu Ike.
He said the police officer later took the accused to Utako Police Station Abuja, where he was detained after confessing to the crime.
The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened Section 95 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
