SANGO-OTA – The police in Ogun on Wednesday arraigned a 25-year-old man, David Richard, in an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting one Dauda Salau.
Richard , who lives at No. 24, Oladejo St., Ifo in Ota, is standing trial on a one-count charge of assault.
The prosecutor, Insp Peter Molokwu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 14 at about 5.30 p.m. at Abekoko area of Ifo, Ota.
Molokwu said the accused used his boot to hit the complainant on the leg, leading to a fracture.
He said the offence contravened section 335 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Revised Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Senior Magistrate Titi Bello granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
She said that the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and show evidence of gainful employment.
Bello also ordered that the surety must provide evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government within the last one year.
She further directed that the address of the surety should be verified by the police.
The case was adjourned till April 30 for mention. (NAN)
