Sango-Ota (Ogun) – A 25-year-old man, Wasiu Ajayi, was on Wednesday charged before an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N220,000.
Ajayi, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of stealing, burglary and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Insp. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendant and others still at large committed the offences on Jan.11, at about 2.05am, at Atan in Ota, Ogun.
Mustapha said that the defendant and his accomplices, stole a Bajaj motorcycle worth N200,000 where it was parked.
He said that the motorcycle belonged to the complainant, Mr Abdulramon Tajudeen.
The prosecutor said that the defendant was apprehended by a vigilance group and handed over to the police.
Mustapha said the offences contravened Sections 390(9), 411 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Akinyemi said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case until Feb.17, for further hearing.
