Badagry – A 25-year-old man, Samuel Dosu, who allegedly broke into a house and stole property valued at N97,000, was Thursday docked before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
Dosu is facing a four-count charge of breaking and entry, stealing, breach of peace and felony.
The Prosecutor, ASP. Akpan Ikem, told the court that Dosu conspired with others now at large to commit the offence on Oct. 7, between 9.00a.m and 5.00p.m at Ajara Tako 1, Badagry area of Lagos.
Ikem said that the accused broke and entered a house through the fence and burglary proof of the complainant, Adelayo Taylor.
The prosecutor added that the accused stole N7, 000 and jewellery valued at N90, 000, totalling N97, 000, belonging to the complainant.
“The accused also attempted to escape from lawful custody with handcuff by jumping the fence and took to his heels,” he said.
Ikem said that the offences contravened Sections 409, 307, 285 and 106 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Lazarus Hotepo, granted the accused bail of N100, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Hotepo adjourned hearing in the case until Nov. 6.
