Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 2.
According to Eze, the accused with another man still at large stole a Galaxy phone valued at N17,500 and N7,500 from one Mrs Cynthia Osula.
He alleged that Alphonus also sexually assaulted a young girl by fingering her while she was sleeping.
The offences contravened Sections 261 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 261 prescribes three years imprisonment for sexual assault, while Section 285 recommends three years imprisonment for stealing.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate has fixed further hearing in the case for Aug. 29. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
