ZARIA (KADUNA STATE) – A Magistrates’ Court siting at Yan-Azara, Tudun-Wada, Zaria, has convicted Lukman Ibrahim, 27 of Turunku Road, Tudun-Wada, Zaria, to two years and six months for trespass and theft.
The Magistrate, Mohammed Abdurrahman, who handed out the sentence when the accused pleaded guilty to the charge, also orders that he be given 12 lashes.

Abdurrahman sentenced the accused person to six months imprisonment or an option of N15,000 fine for trespass and two years imprisonment with 12 lashes for theft.
He, however, did not give him an option of fine for the offence of theft.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Ibrahim Mohammed, had told the court that one Rebeca Amadu of Rimin Tsiwa Estate, Tudun-Wada reported to Tudun-Wada Police Station that the accused person trespassed into her room.
Mohammed said the accused stole the complainant’s laptop valued at N70,000, hand purse containing N2,500, and Techno handset valued at N19,000.
The prosecutor said all the stolen items were recovered from the accused except the money, which he said, he had spent.
He said the offence contravened Section 342 and 386 Penal Code.
The accused pleaded guilty to the offence and appealed for leniency, promising not to repeat the offence.
Mohammed had told the court that the accused person was a habitual criminal and that this was the third time he was brought before the court. (NAN)
