LAGOS – A 28-year-old man, Joseph Agwugho, who allegedly killed one Enya Okpara by stabbing him on the face with a pair of scissors, on Wednedday, appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
When the murder charge was read, the investigative police officer(IPO) Insp. Adejoke Ige, was called upon by the Magistrate, Mr Y.J. Adefioye, to give her evidence.
In her evidence, the IPO alleged that the accused and the deceased were fighting over the ownership of a face cap and in anger, Agwugwo took a nearby scissors which he used in stabbing the deceased on the neck three times.
“He was rushed to the general hospital at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where the deceased was confirmed dead upon arrival,” she said.
Adefioye ordered that the accused be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons, for a period of 30 days, pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The accused, 28, who lives at No. 18, Iyenafija, Bariga, is facing a charge of murder.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Onaiwu Iyobosa, told the court that the offences were committed Oct. 16, at 7.00 p.m., at No. 16, Martins St., Surulere.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. (NAN)
