Lagos – An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded 28-year-old Tope Coker in Kirikiri Prisons, docked over alleged theft of tricycle valued at N325,000 .
Coker, who resides at Ifako area of Lagos, is facing a count charge of stealing.
The magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-oni, said that the defendant should remain behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The prosecutor, John Christopher, said the accused stole the tricycle with registration number EKY 591 QG, belonging to the complainant, Mr Tayo Adetula, from where it was parked.
“The complainant caught the accused with the help of some passersby, while trying to escape with the tricycle, and handed him over to the police,” he said.
Christopher said that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 21 at No. 27, Adebiyi St., Ogba, Lagos.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (Revised).
Dan-Oni adjourned the case until Feb. 26.
