Osogbo – A 30-year- old man, Olawale Oladiran, was on Wednesday docked before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun over the alleged theft of N 500, 000.
The Prosecutor, Supol. Mireri Wilson, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 6, 2015 at about 12:30 p.m. at Aganga area in Osogbo.
Wilson said the culprit in a pretentious manner collected the total sum of N500, 000 from one Muhammed Jamiu, in a bid to sell an acre of land to him.
He said the accused went underground after collecting the money, before the intervention of the Nigerian Police and he was apprehended and brought to the court.
The prosecutor said the offence committed contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Taofik Ibikunle, prayed the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, provide evidence of tax payment and two passports photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.
The Magistrate added that one of the sureties must be a civil servant on grade level 08, while the other should be a biological parent of the accused.
The case was adjourned to March 18, for hearing. (NAN)
