Lagos – A 33-year-old man, David Emaiye, who allegedly assaulted his co-worker, Miss Ifeoma Ebenyi, was on Friday charged before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Oladejo Balogun, told the court that Emaiye committed the offence on Jan. 21 at No. 8b, Oladipo Diya Crescent, Second Avenue Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.

He said that the accused assaulted Ebenyi by hitting her with his fist which caused her a black eye and swollen lips.
Balogun said the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 171 provides a three-year jail term for offenders.
The Magistrate, Mr Martins Owumi, granted Emaiye bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Feb. 16 for mention. (NAN)
