Lagos – A 36-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Nwoye, was on Thursday arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos, for allegedly dealing in illicit drug.
The accused was arraigned on a one-count charge of drug trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Following an application for bail by the defence counsel, Mr Victor Abana, Justice Saliu Saidu granted the accused bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.
The judge ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused.
Saidu adjourned the case till March 9 for trial, but ordered that the accused be remanded at Ikoyi Prisons until he perfects his bail conditions.

The prosecutor, Mr Ichakpa Oigoga, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 8, 2015.
According to the prosecutor, the accused was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja.
He said that during the inward clearance of passengers on board a Qatar Airline flight from Dubai, about 1.68 kg of cocaine was recovered from the accused.
He said that the accused imported same into the country.
The offence contravened the provisions of Sections 11 (a) of the NDLEA Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
The offence of drug trafficking, if proven beyond reasonable doubt, could attract up to life imprisonment. (NAN)
