Abeokuta – A 40-year-old man, Thaddeus Kanvanger, was on Thursday arraigned at an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued at N150,000
Kanvanger, whose address is unknown, is charged with stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 28, 2016, at Kugba Village, via Odeda in Abeokuta.
Shonibare said that the defendant stole a Bajaj motorcycle with Reg. No. GNN 130 QH, property of one Mr Abdukadir Keleni.
“The complainant said that the accused took his motorcycle from where he parked it in his compound and tried to abscond with it.
“The neighbours who saw him trying to steal the bike ran after him and handed him over to the police,” he said.
He said that the offence contravened Section 389 and 390 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
Kanvanger pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Idowu Olayinka, granted the bail to the defendant in the sum of N70,000, with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case till Aug. 15. (NAN)
