Lagos- A 43-year-old man, Augustine Chike, was on Tuesday charged before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
Chike, of no fixed address, is facing a charge of impersonation.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the accused committed the offence at the premises of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, at about 12:12 p.m. on Nov. 17.
Ekundayo said that the accused was apprehended while wearing a police uniform, with a fake police identity card.
He said that the offence contravened Section 378 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-Oni, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100,000.00, with two sureties in like sum.

Dan-Oni ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed, have their addresses verified and should provide evidence of tax payments.
The case was then adjourned till Dec. 21, for mention. (NAN)
