Lagos- A 47-year-old man, Ademola Johnson, was on Thursday charged before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly assaulting a deputy superintendent of police.
The accused, whose address and occupation are unknown, was accused of a charge of unlawful assault by hitting one DSP Kayode Shedrack with his fist.
The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused on Nov. 28 at 8:00 a.m. at Cele Bus stop, Ijanikin in Lagos State , unlawfully assaulted Shedrack.
“The accused, who was trying to evade the law, hit the DSP on the lower lip with his fist in the course of carrying out his duty , ” Eze said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened section 172 (B) of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State 2011.
The accused man pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Teslimi Shomade granted him bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties who should show evidence of two years’ tax and a deposit of N5,000 with the court.
The case was adjourned to Jan. 14, 2015, for mention. (NAN)
