Sango-Ota (Ogun) – A 58-year-old man, Ibrahim Ibuoye, was on Wednesday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging the fence of a land belonging to a place of worship.
Ibuoye, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of malicious damage, forceful entry and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendant and others still at large, committed the offences on Jan. 20 at about 5.48p.m at Feru Village, Oguntedo Lafenwa, Ota.
Mustapha said that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to unlawfully enter and destroyed the fence of a land belonging to Winner Chapel Church, Ota, value of which was yet unknown.
“The defendant also damaged the gate of the Winner Chapel Church and the value is still unknown,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9), 457 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defence counsel, Mr O.A Akanbi, urged the court to grant the defendant bail in liberal term.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted the defendant N1 million bail with two sureties in like sum.
Akinyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
He said that the sureties should also provide notable mean of identification as part of the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned until Feb. 26 for further hearing.
