Lagos – Sunday Freezer, a 23-year-old, who allegedly poured hot water on his neighbour, was on Monday released on bail by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
He was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety.
The accused, a factory worker, who resides at Oregun area of Ikeja, is being tried for a two-count charge of assault and damage.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr J. A. Adegun, gave the ruling after the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, ASP Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 24 at his residence.
Ogu alleged that an argument had ensued between the accused and the complainant, Mr Reuben Afolabi, over the use of the bathroom in the house.
“The accused wanted to use the bathroom and the complainant said NO and that he got there before him leading to an argument.
“The accused poured hot water on the complainant’s shoulder and also damaged his phone valued at N47,000,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 173 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Adegun adjourned the case until July 10.
