Abuja – The police on Thursday arraigned a 23-year-old man, Yusuf Mohammed, in a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly purchasing a stolen generator at N1, 500.
The accused who resides at Kabusa village, Apo, Abuja, is standing trial on a charge of dishonestly receiving stolen property.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Shedrack Dauda told the court that one Mrs Gloria Ojoma of Lokogoma District, Abuja, reported the matter at the Apo Police Station on Aug. 12.
According to him, the complainant was robbed by three men who broke into her shop and stole her property, including the said generator on Aug. 4.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He said that the alleged thieves confessed that they sold the generator to the accused, who buys stolen property from them.
He further said that the accused bought the said generator at the rate of N1, 500 and confessed to have sold the generator to another person, who is now at large.
He said that the offence contravened Section 317 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300, 000 with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case till Oct. 19 for hearing. (NAN)
