Lagos – A 27-year-old man, Clinton Udoh, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged theft of goods valued at N115,000.
Udoh of no fixed address is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the accused committed the offence at No.10, Adebiaye St., off Tejuosho Road, Surulere Lagos, at about 2:00p.m. on March 21.
Ekundayo said Udoh entered the shop of one Muyiwa Kinoshi, the complaint, and stole goods worth N115,000.
He listed the stolen items as fossil designer wrist-watch valued at N60,000, one HP power travelling bag valued at N5,000, and one microsoft cell phone valued at N50,0000.
He said that the accused opened the shop with a ‘’master key.’’
“When Kinoshi got to the shop the next day and raised alarm, that was when one of his neighbours revealed that he saw the accused coming out of the shop,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-Oni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Dan-Oni said one of the sureties must be blood relation, gainfully employed and provide evidence of tax payments and adjourned the case till April 6 for further hearing. (NAN)
