Abuja – A Grade 1 Area Court in Kado, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced Bako Ishaku to four months in prison for criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The presiding judge, Alhaji, Ahmed Ado, however gave Ishaku an option of N4,000 fine.
He also ordered him to pay N100,000 compensation to the nominal complainant or produce the generator in question.
Ado warned him to desist from committing crimes and be truthful to his customers.
The convict, who resides at Daki Biyu village in Abuja, was charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
He prayed the court to temper justice with mercy and blamed recession for the crimes.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Judith Obatomi, told the court that Love Dayo of same address with the convict reported the matter at the Life Camp police station, Abuja, on April 12.
Obatomi said the complainant gave her Tiger power generator valued at N150,000
to Ishaku on April 8 for repairs and since then she had not seen it.
The prosecutor added that Ishaku could not give reasonable account of the generator when he was arreste, an offence punishable under sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
