Badagry (Lagos State) – Tunde Kolawole, a 29-year-old unemployed man, was on Friday arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for alleged theft of a refrigerator valued at N35,000.
The accused, who resides at No. 4, Tera St, Idale, Badagry, is facing a one count charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused stole the fridge on Feb. 27 from a shopping complex in Badagry.
“He committed the act by pretending that he wanted to buy something from the shop; when the shop attendant was attending to someone else, he carried the fridge.
“But before he could leave the shop, he was overpowered and prevented him from taking the fridge away,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Goke Badejo, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail.

promised that his client would always attend court hearings.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, admitted the accused on bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He said that the surety must provide evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government and adjourned the case till May 6 for further hearing. (NAN)
