Abuja – The Police on Thursday arraigned one Chibuike Raymond, 31, of Bwari, Abuja, in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court for snatching a Techno P2 phone from a woman’s car.
Raymond was arraigned on a one-count charge of theft.
The Prosecutor Francis Tanko told the court that Mrs Joke Yusuf of National Hospital, Abuja, reported the case at the Wuse Police Station on May 12.
Tanko said that the accused stole the complainant’s phone with SIM Number 08135534731 in her car.
He said that the offence contravened the Provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor urged the court not to grant Raymond bail as the crime had become rampant in Abuja and that the accused had record of a similar offence with the Police.

He further urged the court not to grant the bail application as it could jeopardise ongoing investigations and that the accuse could jump bail and carry on with the crime.
The Magistrate Aminu Eri, granted the accused to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Eri ordered that one of the sureties must be a senior Civil Servant who must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
The case was adjourned to June 25, for further hearing. (NAN)
