Abuja – A 33-year-old man, Mohammed Wasiu, who allegedly threatened the life of one Mr Nnabigwu Chika and his family, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja.
The defendant of Jaji Street, Kubwa, was docked on a count charge of criminal intimidation.
The prosecutor, John Okpa, told the court that Chika of Kubwa, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Feb. 13.
Okpa alleged that Wasiu sometime in January sent a threat text message to the complainant, threatening to deal with him and his family.
He said that the defendant’s action put the complainant in a state of fear of death or body injury.
The offence contravened Section 397 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Enabosi Godday, while presenting his bail application, assured the court that reliable sureties would be provided if granted bail.
The judge, Mohammed Marafa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Oct. 30 for hearing. (NAN)
