ABUJA – The police on Tuesday arraigned an unemployed man, Stanley Okere, in a Grade 1 Upper Area Court, Lugbe, for allegedly stealing Hp laptop, Ipad, phones and other valuable items.
Okere, who resides at Zone 6, Lugbe Across, Airport road, Abuja, was arraigned on a one-count charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Anigbo Paul, told the court that Mrs Ada Kwalni of phase 2, Trademore Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, reported the case at Lugbe Police Station.
Paul said that the complainant packed her car in front of B-Sure Super Market to get some items.
He explained that on her return, she discovered that one of the car had been forced open and her bag was missing. [eap_ad_1] Paul said the bag contained Hp laptop, Samsung Galaxy phone, Ipad, Intel Pentium Quad processor, Intel HD complies and Blackberry Q10, all valued at N380,000.
He said that during investigation, it was discovered that the accused sold the Blackberry Q10 to Kelvin Anaye of GSM village, Wuse Zone 1, Abuja.
He further said that investigation revealed that the Blackberry Q10 was sold at finance junction, Wuye at the sum of N25, 000 to Anaye.
Paul said that the accused was unable to give a satisfactory account on how he came about the phones and other items he stole.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provision of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty and denied the allegation.
The presiding judge, Mr Gambo Garuba, admitted the accused to a bail of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Garuba said the surety must have a means of identification and swear to affidavit of means.
He said the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the case till Sept. 10 for further hearing. (NAN)
