Detectives attached to Ishara Division of the Ogun State Police Command, have arrested one Gbenga Ogunfolabo, 47, at Ishara in Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, for stabbing his wife, Bosede Ogunfolabo, to death with broken bottle during a fight.
According to a statement by the Command’s PPRO Muyiwa Adejobi, the incident occurred on 16th July but no one reported the case to the police as the families concerned wanted to sweep the matter under the carpet as a result of pressure mounted on the deceased’s family by the family of the suspect but one of the relatives of the deceased decided to report the matter to the police.
Upon investigation, it was gathered that the couple had eight children but lost two of them to sickness and that the husband, who is a farmer, has been maltreating the deceased, a petty trader, before he eventually stabbed her to death.[eap_ad_2]
Adejobi further stated that the Commissioner for Police in the state , Ikemefuna Okoye, has directed that the case be transferred to Eleweran, the Force headquarters in the state.
“The Commissioner for Police, Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye, has directed that the matter be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for discreet investigation; and has advised the general public to always report cases of this nature or any other crimes to the police,” Adejobi said.
According to him, this would allow the police to have records of crimes committed in the state and to allow justice have its way.
The commissioner for police also assured the general public of the command’s commitment in making sure that every case reported to the police would be adequately investigated and offenders prosecuted.[eap_ad_3]
