An Akure Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded one Alesanmi Iwanefun to the Nigeria Correctional Centre in Ondo State for allegedly killing his brother, Orimisan, with a pestle.
Alesanmi, aged 30, was said to have committed the offence on January 24, 2021, around Madagbayu street, Kiribo in the Ondo State Magisterial District.
He reportedly hit his brother with a pestle during a fight.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, informed the court that the offence was contrary to sections 316 and punishable under section 319(1) of Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The plea of the accused person was not taken when he was arraigned because he had no legal representation.
Presiding Magistrate, O. L. Abu, directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send the same to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
He adjourned further hearing of the case to March 8, 2021.
