ABUJA – Senate President, David Mark, on Friday mourned the death of the 19 killed on May 1, bomb blast at Nyanya, Abuja.
Mark condemned the attack on innocent and harmless Nigerians in a statement issued in Abuja by his the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan.
Mark described the attackers as being “cowardly and irresponsible’’ and prayed for the quick recovery of all those who were injured.
He called on Nigerians to be more alert to issues of security and engage in citizen policing to assist the government in its effort to secure the citizens.
“There are stronger needs to report every suspicious items, persons or movements around us to any available security agency.
“It is most true that the citizen has a duty to make information available to government for the latter to carry out its onerous security responsibilities.
“The time has come for every citizen to become a watchman or watchwoman as well as whistle blower in support of our security agencies.
“We all have to work against these irresponsible and senseless insurgents, who are bent on waging war against our nation,’’ he emphasised.
Mark also urged security agencies to continue to collaborate with dedicated, honest and patriotic Nigerians who are prepared to provide them with relevant information.
He assured that the nation would triumph over the current security challenges and urged Nigerians to stand together in the bid to defeat insurgency and terrorism. (NAN)
