Lagos – The General Market Leader of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government in Lagos State, Chief Doyin Coker, has called on the new ministers to initiate policies that will impact on Nigerians.
Coker made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday.
She urged the new Minister of Trade, Investment and Industry, Mr Okechukwu Enelamah, to promote the growth and development of small and medium enterprises.
She also called on the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe, to motivate more Nigerians to take farming as a business.
“We advise them to see that they follow Buhari’s step as Buhari is telling them.
“The new ministers, I want them to take care of our market people even our association in the whole Nigeria and the states.
“The Minster of Trade and Investment will have to take care of us.
“We need many things; how to get market and then to help us the small business.
“They have to loan us money at a reasonable interest rate.
“All the people who know how to farm have abandoned farming.
“There are no more farm settlements and people should be encouraged to go into farming.
“The Minister for Agriculture has to encourage cultivation of various crops because we have good land in Nigeria.
“Our land is good to plant several cash crops.
“Rice cultivation in Nigeria is okay but it is not enough.
“In Nigeria, the first place they planted cocoa is Ifako Ijaiye but civilisation has spoilt the farming tradition.
“No body is interested in farming anymore.’’
