BAUCHI – A Local Church Council (LCC) of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), has held special prayers to seek God’s intervention for a smooth handover on May 29.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the prayers were held during the LCC two-day revival service which ended on Saturday at ECWA II, Bauchi.
The Local Overseer, Rev. Shuaibu Byal, told NAN shortly after the prayers that consistent prayers were needed for God’s intervention to deepen Nigerian democracy.
Byal said that with the handover day less than a week away, there was need for Christians and Muslims to pray for smooth transition.
According to him, it is only God that will ensure a smooth transition from President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration to the incoming Government.
“Nigerians prayed for successful general elections and God answered our prayer by making the March 28 and April 11 general elections the most peaceful and credible polls in the history of the country.
“Also, because of our collective prayers as Nigerians, a repeat of the 2011 post-election violence that led to loss of lives and property was averted.

“So, we decided to organise a special prayer to pray intensively for a peaceful and smooth transition from the outgoing administration to the incoming one on May 29,“ the Cleric said.
He said the church equally prayed for peace; improved security; employment and improvement of the ailing economy due to fall in oil revenue.
“This will enable the incoming administration to start on a good foundation, “he said. (NAN)
