Abuja (Sundiata Post) – A businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Babayo Bala Mohammed, has urged the Plateau State workers to use the May Day celebration to reaffirm their commitment to the service of the State and nation at large.
In a statement issued in commemoration of the 2024 International Workers’ Day, Mohammed enjoined them to rededicate themselves to excellence so as to take the State to a higher level.
He also salutes the Governor of the State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for prioritising workers welfare and providing an enabling environment for civil servants to discharge their duties.
Mohammed recalled the effort of Mutfwang upon assuming office on May 29, 2023, by bringing back the Plateau workers to work after several months of strike as a result of salaries owed to them by the former Governor Lalong’s administration.
“Not only that, the Governor has also engaged key agencies in the State to facelift Plateau in the last one year, since assuming office.
“He has rehabilitated the major roads, fixed potholes, and has provided basic social amenities in the State.
“The mantra, the Time is Now, is truly working in the State.
“We also salute the entire Nigerian workers and commend them for the hard work, commitment and resourcefulness which are essential for the growth of the economy of any nation.
“I urged them not to rest on their oars”, he said.
While calling on workers to remain focused and steadfast in their workplaces, Mohammed noted that the story of Nigeria cannot be complete without the huge contributions of workers, both in the public and private sectors.
The International Labour Day is celebrated every year on 1 May to commemorate the sacrifices of workers across the world.
