London   –    British Prime Minister, Theresa May, is scheduled to deliver a speech on new `Special Partnership’ with EU after Brexit, May’s office said.

May would speak on Sept. 22, three days before British and EU officials are due to begin a new round of negotiations on Brexit.

British media said the speech could be intended to catalyse the talks, which have made slow progress and often appeared fractious.

Downing Street said Florence was chosen for the event because May wanted to speak on the EU “in its historical heart.’’

Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament’s Chief Brexit negotiator, had hinted earlier at May’s speech, saying he believed she planned to make “an important intervention.’’
