Measles: NPI provides 65,000 vaccines for children in Jigawa

Malammadori (Jigawa) – The National Programme on Immunisation (NPI) says it has supplied 65,000 doses of measles vaccines for effective innoculation of children in Malammadori Local Government Area of Jigawa.

An official of the programme, Malam Babangida Usman, made the announcement at the ongoing immunisation of children against measles in the state.

Usman said no fewer than 56,000 children in the area were targeted for immunisation in the area.

He called on the people to cooperate with the workers to ensure successful conduct of the exercise.

In Birniwa Local Government Area, the Director, Gunduma Health System in the area, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, urged health personnel to ensure effective immunisation of children in the state.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

He noted that their commitment to duty would facilitate the successful campaign against the disease.

According to him, it is imperative for immunisation workers to be diligent in their duties and strive to resolve problems of rejection of the vaccines in some communities.

In his remarks, the NPI Manager in Birniwa, Malam Yusuf Hakimi, expressed satisfaction with the level of participation in the exercise.

Hakimi noted that the exercise was being conducted smoothly in the 57 immunisation centres in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the five-day measles immunisation exercise which started on Nov. 21, is expected to round up on Nov. 25 in the 27 local government areas of the state. (NAN)
