Ikeja – A mechanic, Ridwan Ogungbade, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into apartment and stealing phones and money.
Ogungbade, who resides at No. 4, Tade Street, Ajasa Command, Lagos, is charged with conspiracy burglary and stealing.
He, however pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Patrick Ebri, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences with some others at large, on Jan. 22, at No. 9A, Prince Kosoko Crescent, Oke Abiye, Alagbado, Lagos.
Ebri alleged that Ogungbade and the others broke into the apartment of one Mrs Felicia Nwandugbo and stole 10,000 and three phones worth N82,000.
He added that the defendant stole jewellery which value had yet to be determined.
“The defendant gained entrance through a window, and stole the items,” he told the court.
Akadu said that the offences contravened Sections 309, 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for stealing, while Section 309 provides for three years’ imprisonment for breaking-in.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fajana, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Feb. 28 for mention.
