LAGOS – Funmilola Adetuyi, Secretary, Lagos State Traditional Sports Association, said on Monday that medal winners in the 2012 and 2014 Ibile Games in Kokowa would be invited for open camping, ahead of the DAWN Games.
The DAWN Games is a shortened form for Development Agenda for Western Nigeria. The event is scheduled to run from May 16 to May 24 in Lagos.
Adetuyi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday that other eligible Kokowa fighters would be invited to compete for a place at the Games.
“We want to use the DAWN Games to prepare for the next National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged `Paradise Games’ in Calabar, the Cross River capital.
“It is our intention to become a dominant force in traditional sports in general, within the country,’’ Adetuyi said.
She told NAN that the secretariat was planning a refresher course for coaches, as well as hunt for more coaches for the sport. (NAN)
