Medical group donates water purifier to UNIUYO Health Centre

UYO – The Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Akwa Ibom State chapter, on Tuesday, donated water purifier to University of Uyo Health Centre to reduce water borne diseases in the university community.

Presenting the equipment, Dr Ako Akpabio, who is the immediate past President of the association, said that the gesture was borne out of the body’s many contributions toward achieving good healthcare services.

Akpabio said that the association had in the past carried out similar gesture to other institutions in the state.

She said that the equipment was donated in collaboration with UNILEVER Nigeria, the manufacturer of the purifier.

Receiving the purifier, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Comfort Ekpo, commended the association for the gesture.

Ekpo, who was represented by Dr Ini Enang, the Director of Medical Services, assured the association that the equipment would be judiciously used by the health centre.

He appealed to UNILEVER to make the purifier more affordable for the benefit of the public. (NAN)
